How ZTools handles your data: in-browser tools, server-processed tools, sign-in, analytics and your rights.
Summary
ZTools is a privacy-first toolbox. Most tools process your input
entirely inside your browser. Your data does not leave your device unless
you explicitly trigger a feature that needs the network (for example,
cloud sync after sign-in, or one of the server-processed tools below).
What we collect
If you use a tool without signing in, we do not collect your inputs.
If you sign in with Google, we store your email, display name, and the
preferences you choose (favorites, history, theme) in our database so
they sync across your devices.
Tools that run on our processing server
A few heavy tools (AI background removal, image and PDF OCR, AI
upscaling, speech-to-text, office-to-PDF, PDF compression and the server
modes of the audio and video tools) cannot run well in a browser, so they
send your file over HTTPS to our own processing server. They need a free
Google sign-in and a Cloudflare Turnstile check. The server deletes your
file and the result right after processing. It keeps a request record
for 90 days (the tool, the time, the file size and the outcome, with your
account and network stored only as salted hashes), never the file, its
name or its contents.
Local storage
The site and the browser extension use your browser's local storage
to remember settings, recently used tools, and dismissed promotional
cards. This data stays on your device.
Analytics & identifiers
The website and the mobile apps use analytics (Google Analytics,
Amplitude, Microsoft Clarity) and, on mobile, push
notifications (OneSignal). These may collect usage events and a
resettable device/advertising identifier for aggregate analytics and
notification delivery only — never for advertising targeting or
cross-app tracking, and we never sell it.
Promotional content (browser extension)
The ZTools browser extension occasionally shows a small,
dismissible promo card for one of our other free apps. The cards are
first-party only — we do not work with third-party ad networks, there is
no AdSense or tracking pixel, and targeting decisions are made on-device.
Each card can be permanently dismissed.
Third-party recommendations
A few tools mention free third-party services (such as EZGIF,
CloudConvert, or CombinePDF) when those services do something we do not
handle ourselves. We are not affiliated with them and receive no
referral fee. The links are plain suggestions; following one is your
choice and ZTools does not transmit your data on your behalf.
Your rights
You can request export or deletion of any account-linked data at any
time by writing to support. The full policy below covers GDPR / CCPA
