Delete PDF Pages — Remove Pages from a PDF (Free, In-Browser)
Delete one or more pages from a PDF. Visual page picker. Preserves quality. 100% in-browser — no upload, no watermark, no email.
About Delete PDF Pages
A delete-PDF-pages tool removes selected pages from a PDF and saves the result as a new file (the original on disk stays untouched). The ZTools Delete PDF Pages tool offers a thumbnail grid where you click to mark pages for deletion, plus a range-string input for power users (`5, 8-10, 15`). Built on `pdf-lib`, it preserves text quality, images, fonts, and form fields on the remaining pages exactly. Useful for trimming blank pages, removing confidential appendices, or excising scanned photos that snuck into a document scan.
Use cases
- Removing blank pages produced by a scanner. Auto-feeders sometimes capture blank backsides of single-sided originals. Click the blank thumbnails, hit Delete, save the cleaner file.
- Removing confidential pages before external sharing. A board pack has internal salary data on pages 28-35. Delete those pages, save as the "external" version, send. Keep the original intact for board records.
- Trimming a draft to its final length. You drafted 30 pages but the final report should be 20. Delete the cut sections in one operation; faster than recreating the file.
- Removing unwanted cover or appendix pages. A downloaded PDF has marketing covers, table-of-contents, and bibliographies you don't need. Delete pages 1-3 and 45-50 to keep just the body.
How it works
- Drag-drop your PDF. Loads into browser memory.
- Mark pages to delete. Click thumbnails to mark, or type a range string (`5, 8-10, 15`). Marked pages are visually crossed out.
- Preview the result. A "remaining pages" count shows how many will be in the output. Verify before saving.
- Click Delete and Save. `pdf-lib` builds a new PDF containing only the unmarked pages, preserving all original content.
- Download. Save the trimmed file. The original on your disk is untouched — this tool produces a new file.
Examples
Input: 30-page PDF, delete pages 5, 12, and 28-30
Output: 26-page PDF with the remaining pages in original order
Input: 50-page scan with 10 blank backsides interspersed
Output: 40-page PDF, blanks removed, ready for archival
Frequently asked questions
Will my PDF be uploaded?
No. Page deletion happens entirely in your browser via `pdf-lib`. No file leaves your device.
Is the original file modified?
No. The tool builds a new file from the source; your original on disk stays exactly as it was.
Are bookmarks preserved?
Yes for bookmarks pointing to surviving pages (re-indexed to new page numbers). Bookmarks targeting deleted pages are removed.
Can I undo a delete after saving?
No — the saved file omits the deleted pages. Always keep your original until you've verified the trimmed version is correct.
Can I delete pages from a password-protected PDF?
Unlock first with our PDF Unlock tool (you must know the password).
Is there a fast way to delete every blank page?
Manually clicking is fast for a few; for hundreds, use a desktop tool with auto blank-detection (e.g., `qpdf` or `pdfcrop`).
Pro tips
- Always preview "remaining pages" before saving — easy to delete more than intended.
- Pair with our Rotate PDF tool when scanned pages need fixing AND trimming.
- For frequent blank-removal at scale, a desktop tool with automatic detection is faster.
- Keep the original file until the trimmed version is verified.
